De Uitnodiging

Artists: Laura van Dolron & Mark Kulsdom – SHOW IN DUTCH

Duration: 60 min

Saturday, 9 november
Start: 20:50
End: 21:50
Price: € 15
Language: Dutch
Location: Studio

About the show:

BIOS:

Laura van Dolron creëerde haar eigen genre stand-up philosophy.

Duration: 70 min

Saturday, 9 november

Start: 19:30

End: 20:40

Price: €15

Language: EN
Location: Big Theatre

About the show:

Long ago, though very much in the here and now, was a man who mistakenly believed himself to be superior to others. The Wise Ones up in the Great Beyond were irritated by this attitude and chose to ‘educate’ the man by casting him out of his village and ordering him to wander the Earth until he (re)discovered his humility. ‘We Are Who We Are’ covers the segment of his journey where he crosses paths, and spends time with Hungarian Roma. Through song and the exchange of stories the man is able to reassess his place in the world and also discover a simple yet often hidden truth: in the great scheme of life, no one human being is ever truly above or below any other human being.

Chidi Ebere and Ham Ko Ham bring this tale to life through the interplay of words and music.

Bios:

Chidi Ebere, author of award-winning novel Now I Am Here, believes stories are the reason humanity has developed this far. The imagination plucks pieces of the world around us and remixes them into new insights. His greatest joy comes when telling stories in Mezrab; face to face and surrounded by his sisters, brothers and everyone in between.

Ham Ko Ham, a youthful Roma band from eastern Hungary who capture many aspects of modern day living in their music.

Jugal aims to bring these stories on stage, and act as a vessel for the voiceless.

After studying jazz piano and composition for film at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, He’s been working to blend these worlds to create instant film music through an improvisational approach. With a passion for connecting music and storytelling, He continues to push the boundaries of live composition and cinematic soundscapes.

Stephen Kearin began his career in 1987 with Bay Area Theatresports in San Francisco. About the show:

I write on a blank document.

You read.

The soft rhythm of my typing connects us.

Letter follows letter as I navigate wide across the internet and deep into my memory in search of forgotten stories, lost voices and inventions.

A solo performance in a Google-Doc, amusedly and poignantly weaving an intricate web of relations between voice, identity, technology, memory and loss.

The departure point for this creation process was research into the invention of the telephone, and observations on its development history through different human-machine interaction systems in the neverending human quest to overcome distance.

Parallel to that, a subculture of phone-hackers arose, discovering loop-holes in what was now the biggest machine in the world. They found each other by “misusing” the telephone, thus creating alternative, virtual encounter spaces, motivated primarily by pure curiosity, playfulness, loneliness and deep listening.

Bios:
